The Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team rebounded from an upset loss at Denver last week with a 14-8 win at Towson on Friday.

Ally Kennedy scored four goals, Jesse Arline had four assists and Nicole Barretta added three goals for the No. 10 Seawolves, who took advantage of a reeling Tigers team that dropped its fourth straight game to start the season—although all four losses have come against nationally ranked roes.

With the game tied at 3 midway through the first half, Stony Brook (2-1) broke off a 7-1 run and was never seriously threatened after that. Towson committed 20 turnovers, 10 in each half.

In other games Friday:

  • USC used a 5-1 run to pull within two goals of top-ranked Boston College midway through the second half, but Taylor Walker scored twice unassisted to give the host Eagles the insurance they needed in a 12-9 victory. Tewaaraton nominees Sam Apuzzo (five goals, two assists) and Kenzie Kent (one goal, six assists) paced BC (6-0) with seven points apiece. Apuzzo became the Eagles’ all-time leading scorer, surpassing Covie Stanwick. The senior attacker has 316 career points.

  • Charlotte North scored seven goals and added two assists to lead No. 16 Duke to a 19-3 win over visiting William and Mary. The Blue Devils improved to 3-1, their lone loss coming in a 21-20 shootout Feb. 17 at Northwestern.

  • Ali Baiocco had five goals and two assists, setting a career high with seven points, and Daniella McMahon added a career-high four goals in No. 20 Stanford’s 16-13 win at Albany. The Cardinal used a pair of four-goal runs late in the first half and midway through the second to go ahead 14-7. The Great Danes fought back but fell short in suffering their first defeat of the season. Both teams are 3-1.

  • Twelve different players scored, as No. 8 James Madison dismantled Canisius 21-4. Freshman Lizzy Fox led the Dukes with four points (two goals, two assists).
