It was a relatively quiet Sunday of Division I women’s lacrosse, with many results going as expected. Here’s what went down.

MICHIGAN CONTINUES HOT START

No. 9 Michigan kept up its string of dominance on Sunday against Towson at Tiger Field, getting four goals from Kaley Thompson and goals from 10 players overall in an 18-6 romp. In their 5-0 start, the Wolverines have outscored opponents 82-31.

Towson (0-3) kept the game close for a quarter, but Michigan scored eight second-quarter goals to build a 12-5 halftime advantage. Going back to when Towson took a 3-2 lead on Gabby Garrett’s goal with 3:59 left in the first quarter, Michigan scored 16 of the final 19 goals.

Kaitlyn Mead had three goals and one assist, and Arielle Weissman made 10 saves for Michigan. Blaire Pearre scored three times for Towson.

STONY BROOK WALLOPS DARTMOUTH

One week after losing to No. 3 Syracuse by just one goal, No. 6 Stony Brook got five goals each from Kailyn Hart and Siobhan Rafferty in a 20-3 win at LaValle Stadium. Stony Brook outscored Dartmouth 8-0 in the second half.

It was a thoroughly dominant performance by the Seawolves. They outshot Dartmouth 39-9 and forced 18 turnovers. Stony Brook assisted 13 of its 20 goals.

VIRGINIA ENDS THREE-GAME SKID

Fresh off losses to Maryland, Princeton and Boston College — all ranked opponents — No. 13 Virginia dropped 23 goals against No. 16 Stanford in a 23-13 win. The Cavaliers offense exploded for 11 goals in the first quarter.

Katy Gilbert’s goal for Stanford cut the deficit to 15-12 with 10:21 left in the third quarter, a respectable comeback from what was a 15-8 deficit near the end of the first half. But Virginia (3-3) scored eight of the final nine goals to secure the win.

Rachel Clark had four goals and four assists, and Ashlyn McGovern and Kate Miller each scored four times. For Stanford (1-4), Ashley Humphrey had one goal and five assists, and Ali Baiocco scored her first four goals of the season.
