Boys’ teams in the 14U, 13U and 12U age divisions Sunday began their road to the US Lacrosse Nationals at qualifying tournaments in Emerson, Ga., and Rockford, Ill. Teams earned performance-based points towards a berth in the 10th annual US Lacrosse Nationals, set for Aug. 2-5, 2018, in Frederica, Del.
The Rockford Fall Classic in Illinois held qualifications divisions at the 12U and 14U age groups, as teams competed in three or four games to earn standings points. Two 14U teams finished the day with perfect records and 30 points apiece. Legends from Milwaukee, Wis., and New Wave Storm out of Naperville, Ill., each took first steps on the Road to Delaware in the older group. At 12U, it was the War Eagles of Windsor, Wis., going a perfect 4-0 to emerge with the best records.
In Georgia, the Southern Tilt featured a qualifying division at the 14U age group. Atlanta Empire went undefeated to earn 30 qualifying points. Despite dropping one game, Dirty Birds of Walton, Ga., also posted three wins to earn 30 points.
Qualifiers for girls’ teams got underway Oct. 21-22 in Downingtown, Pa. The Keystone state this weekend will host a boys’ qualifier in West Chester, Pa. The Harvest Classic will feature 26 teams in 12U, 13U and 14U qualifying divisions competing for points in the first major qualifier in the Mid-Atlantic.
The qualifications standings for the US Lacrosse Nationals are automated through Tourney Machine by SI Play, and updated as scores from qualifying events are entered into the Tourney Machine platform. Clubs wanting to start earning points towards their bid for the US Lacrosse Nationals should register for a Tourney Team account.
