SPARKS, Md. — Gait Lacrosse has signed a multi-year partnership agreement with US Lacrosse that will make it an official partner/equipment supplier of the U.S. Women’s National Team, an official partner for the US Lacrosse National Convention for the next four years and an official sponsor of the 2021 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship, which will be hosted by US Lacrosse from July 7-17, 2021 at Towson University.
“Everyone at US Lacrosse and with the U.S. Women’s National Team is excited to bring Gait on as our newest equipment partner,” said Tom Pope, director of corporate partnership sales for US Lacrosse. “We can't wait to see the team train and compete in next summer's world championship. Having Gait Lacrosse support the team towards its championship pursuit helps our elite players on the field and US Lacrosse in delivering on its mission to grow the game.”
Gait Lacrosse, a collaboration between lacrosse legends and brothers, Gary and Paul Gait, launched last fall. The company has a full line of women’s lacrosse gear (heads, handles, gloves and eyewear) and men’s lacrosse heads, handles and gloves.
“I’m excited to be back working with Gary and launching this brand,” Paul Gait said. “The partnership with US Lacrosse lets everyone know that we’re serious and ready to contend. We feel our product is unmatched in design and function. Gary and I have always spent a lot of time on how our products perform and everything has a purpose. The purpose is to enhance the playability.”
Gait said the company is emphasizing women’s lacrosse in its launch year, due to the duo’s familiarity with the sport. Gary Gait has been the head women’s lacrosse coach at Syracuse since 2008 and helped Maryland win seven national championships as an assistant coach before returning to his alma mater. Paul Gait has been involved in designing and manufacturing women’s lacrosse equipment for the majority of his professional career.
The company has four heads on the market or in development for women’s lacrosse players: Gait Air (designed for midfielders and defenders), Gait Apex (a midfield/attack stick coming out in June), Gait Whip (designed for attack players) and Gait Draw (designed for the draw and defensive players).
The sponsorship with the U.S. women’s team program provides Gait with a chance to demonstrate its products with elite players. That will be amplified by next summer’s world championship, the first time the event has been held in the United States in nearly two decades.
“Right now, it’s the pinnacle of the women’s sport,” Paul Gait said. “It’s the best of each country and an all-star group of U.S. players that tend to be the best in the world. It’s great to be associated with that talent.”
Gait Lacrosse will also connect with the lacrosse community through the US Lacrosse National Convention, which traditionally brings more than 7,000 coaches, officials, administrators and fans together for educational sessions and the popular FanFest, which showcases the latest gear, services and more from the lacrosse community.
“I find the convention to be a great spot to launch new products and show the capability and functionality of our line,” Paul Gait said. “It’s a young and eager audience and the coaches are interested in learning what you can provide.”
