SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse is proud to partner with One Bowl Productions, the Iroquois Nationals, Thompson Brothers Lacrosse, and 4 the Future Foundation on a free streaming experience of the award-winning documentary “Spirit Game: Pride of a Nation.”

The celebrated feature length documentary was produced in 2017 and called by Inside Lacrosse as “the most ambitious, broad-sweeping and beautifully shot lacrosse film to date.”

The free streaming weekend will take place May 8-9, 2021. Individuals can register in advance or the day of at https://www.onebowlproductions.com/streamspiritgame/ and on May 7 at 11 p.m. (Eastern) will receive a link to access the stream. The film will be available to stream until 12 a.m. Eastern on May 10. US Lacrosse is providing marketing assistance to the effort, helping share the experience with the lacrosse community and the organization’s nearly 400,000 members.

“Spirit Game: Pride of a Nation” is no ordinary sports documentary. By taking people on a journey exploring the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) roots of the ancient sport of lacrosse, it creates an opportunity for a new conversation about sports and culture. The story is told, for the first time, from a purely Native American perspective and illuminates both spiritual and physical aspects of what is called “the Creator’s Game.” 

For the first time in the history of lacrosse, the World Games were played on a Native Nation. Onondaga, the capital of the Iroquois Confederacy, welcomed the best in lacrosse to their Nation’s territory for the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. 

Directors Peter Spirer and Peter Baxter provide the audience with thrilling gameplay, and never before seen up close and personal cutting-edge cinematography. It also brings to light intense subject matter within the unexpected frame of the sports arena; sovereignty, identity, racism, history, and an intimate look at the most elite players in the game today.
