SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse will continue its exploration of the new World Lacrosse Sixes discipline when it holds an evaluation camp at the Lake Placid (N.Y.) Summit Classic from Aug. 2-4.

Sixes is a fast-paced version of the sport played on a smaller field (70 x 36 meters), with fewer players (6 v 6), a condensed game length (four 8-minute quarters) and a 30-second shot clock. Sixes will be the format used for lacrosse at The World Games, a multi-sport Olympic-style event, in Birmingham, Ala., next summer.

The United States, which will have teams in both the men’s and women’s fields at The World Games in 2022, will hold an evaluation camp at the PBA Fields in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and the men’s and women’s teams will hold public exhibitions in Lake Placid. The Blue-White Sixes exhibition games will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3 beginning at 5 p.m.

The Lake Placid evaluation camp will be the second of three events this fall as the U.S. continues its discovery process for the Sixes discipline. A third event, featuring international competition, is planned for October at USA Lacrosse headquarters.

USA Lacrosse held its first-ever evaluation camp for Sixes teams earlier this month at both the National Team Training Center at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md., and at the USA Lacrosse Youth Nationals in Frederica, Del.
