The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

NORTHEAST

Cal Lambert, Victor (N.Y.)

Lambert made sure Dan Stone’s debut as the Victor head coach was a victorious one, sparking a second-half comeback in a 13-8 victory over Hilton (N.Y.). After Victor struggled offensively in the first half against Hilton’s zone, Stone challenged his team for “one shot, one goal,” in the second half, and Lambert led that charge. The Army-bound two-way senior midfielder scored eight goals on 50 percent shooting while playing great on both ends of the field.

MID-ATLANTIC

Kevin Tucker, Loyola Blakefield (Md.)

Tucker had a hat trick to help the Dons defeat Boys’ Latin 12-10 on May 9. Each time that Loyola Blakefield would build a cushion, Boys’ Latin would answer, but in the fourth quarter, Tucker scored back-to-back goals for a 12-8 lead that proved decisive. It marked the third win in a row for Loyola Blakefield, starting with handing Archbishop Spalding just its second loss of the season.

SOUTH

Max Sanderson, Jupiter (Fla.)

The senior won a state championship with Jupiter on Saturday and helped his squad by scoring three times in the title game against Winter Park (Fla.). In the state semifinal, Sanderson had four goals in a win over Plant (Fla.). Sanderson, a Lafayette recruit, had a team-leading 71 goals in 2021.

MIDWEST

Mac Scholl, Upper Arlington (Ohio)

The final score might not show it, but Upper Arlington’s 12-4 win over Dublin Jerome (Ohio) in the MSLCA tournament title game had plenty of tense moments and Scholl rose to the challenge every time. Up 1-0 late in the first quarter, the standout goalkeeper made several point-blank saves. Tied at one early in the second, Scholl made a fine five-hole save. Leading just 4-2 in the opening minutes of the third, Scholl stunned the crowd at Hudson Memorial Stadium with a couple of lunging saves.

WEST

Nils Barry, St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.)

The senior attackman scored the first two goals to put the Wildcats ahead early en route to a 9-8 win over Torrey Pines (Calif.) in a battle between the region’s top two teams Saturday. St. Ignatius never trailed, and Barry added a third goal late in the game to break a 7-all tie before Luke Williams scored the game-winner two minutes later.
