The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

NORTHEAST

Ryan Colsey, Ridgefield (Conn.)

Ryan Colsey led by example for Ridgefield in a 15-4 win over Rye (N.Y.), a favorite in Section I, Class B, as the Virginia-bound senior lefty attack showcased his complete arsenal with eight goals, including six in the second half as the Tigers pulled away.

“Ryan played a great game against Rye, scoring his eight goals in a variety of ways,” said Ridgefield coach Roy Colsey. “He’s an emotional leader who plays with his heart on his sleeve.”

MID-ATLANTIC

Daniel Davis, St. Paul’s School for Boys (Md.)

The junior midfielder came up big in winning possession for St. Paul’s. Davis won 12 of 20 faceoffs to help the Crusaders rally for a 13-9 win over Calvert Hall on April 8. Davis, who is committed to Fairfield, helped St. Paul’s win the ball to start their rally. The Crusaders trailed 5-2 after the first quarter and 6-5 at halftime before overtaking Calvert Hall for their first win in the MIAA A Conference this season.

SOUTH

Gunnar Schwarz, St. Andrew’s (Fla.)

Gunnar Schwarz has his Scots in prime position to repeat as Florida state champions as St. Andrew’s enters the playoffs. The St. Andrew’s goalie posted 17 saves in a 5-4 win over Ponte Vedra to finish the regular season. Schwarz, whose brother Kurt is among the team’s leading scorers, is committed to Navy.

MIDWEST

Landon Gelven, MICDS (Mo.)

The Rams have been scorching to begin the season and Landon Gelven has been right at the center of their 7-0 start, leading the team in assists (20) and points (36). Gelven has scored multiple goals in four straight games, including 14 points this past week, with two goals and three assists in a 10-5 win over De Smet Jesuit (Mo.) and three goals and six assists in an 18-8 victory over Rockhurst (Mo.).

WEST

Ayden Santi, Corner Canyon (Utah)

The senior goalie recorded 16 saves in a 10-9 win over West Region No. 1-ranked Mater Dei (Calif.) on April 5, stepping up big after the Monarchs dominated possession off faceoffs. He then helped Corner Canyon stay in a game against Corona del Mar (Calif.), recording 12 saves on 24 shots in a double overtime loss.
