The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.
NORTHEAST
Thomas Gravino, Victor (N.Y.)
It was another perfect week for Victor (N.Y.), which defeated Hilton (N.Y.) 20-5 on the road and Canandaigua (N.Y.) 7-2 and Penfield (N.Y.) 14-4 at home. It was the latest example of what’s been working all season for the undefeated Blue Devils — a dynamic offense that shares the ball and a stingy defense that will not give up anything cheaply.
Thomas Gravino is the living embodiment of both. The senior Maryland commit had two goals and four assists against Hilton, two goals vs. Canandaigua and three goals and five assists against Penfield. But he’s also committed himself to doing the hard work against the ball for the Blue Devils.
“Thomas continues to find ways to balance his play on both ends of the field. His patience and improved decision making on offense increases his own scoring opportunities and creates more opportunities for teammates to do the same,” Victor head coach Dan Stone said. “On the other end of the field, Thomas focuses on his ability to be a two-way midfielder to make plays on defense that create transition and generate offense.”

MID-ATLANTIC
Shuey Kelly, Calvert Hall (Md.)
The junior attack missed six weeks early in the season with a wrist injury. His return two weeks ago has helped ignite the Cardinals offense, and helped Calvert Hall get its season back on track after a slow start. Kelly had two goals and three assists as Calvert Hall pulled away from Severn (Md.) for a 16-4 win of a matchup of two teams with 5-3 records in the MIAA A Conference. It was the fifth straight win for the Cardinals, who improved to 12-4 overall. Kelly, a Georgetown commit, scored four goals and had an assist earlier in the week in a 13-8 win over an Archbishop Spalding (Md.) team that sat ahead of them in the conference standings.
Also notable: Nick Machiran, Mount Hebron (Md.); Ryan Schrier, Archbishop Spalding (Md.); Cardin Stoller, Boys’ Latin (Md.); Tucker Wade, Bullis (Md.); Tristan Whitaker, Episcopal (Pa.)

SOUTH
Nick Golubov, St. Andrew’s (Fla.)
From the faceoff X, Nick Golubov gave his team possessions to help St. Andrew’s repeat as state champs. In the state championship May 8, the senior faceoff specialist won 12 out of 17 draws while adding a game-high five ground balls. In last week’s semifinal victory, he won 10 out of 13 draws while contributing four ground balls. Golubov won 63 percent of faceoffs this season and led the squad with 118 ground balls.

MIDWEST
Colin Vickrey, Culver Academy (Ind.)
There was no shortage of heroes in the Eagles' Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association title game victory over Western Reserve Academy, whether it was Spencer Reagan and Tay Rodriguez controlling the X or Griffin Scane tallying three goals and three assists. Still, while Scane led to a flurry of goals and Reagan and Rodriguez helped control possession, Vickrey set a tone on the defensive end by stopping 75 percent of the shots that came his way. With nine saves in the first half, Vickrey truly set a tone for Culver.

WEST
Nic Peloso, Corona del Mar (Calif.)
The senior scored 10 goals over the first two rounds of the CIF Southern Section playoffs, including six tallies in the quarterfinals to help CdM beat Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.) 15-10 for a much more comfortable victory than a one-goal regular-season matchup. His four goals against Westlake (Calif.) came early in the game as the Sea Kings rolled to a 14-5 win in the opening round.
Also notable: Isaiah Chavez, Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.); Reece Lapham, Mater Dei (Calif.); Jacob Osborn, Corner Canyon (Utah); William Stahl, St. Margaret’s (Calif.)
