The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

The South Region has concluded play, so this week, we honor the top players from the other four regions.

NORTHEAST

Joey Spallina, Mt. Sinai (N.Y.)

Joey Spallina etched his place in the Long Island record books, becoming the region’s all-time leading scorer with his 501st career point in Mt. Sinai’s Suffolk Class C championship win over Shoreham-Wading River (N.Y.). The top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2022 broke Nicky Galasso’s record on a goal with 2:37 left in the game.

The Syracuse-bound senior added six more points on a goal and five assists to finish with 507 career points in the Long Island Class C championship game, his lone goal pulling the Mustangs to within a score early in the fourth quarter. It was Spallina’s last high school game, as Mt. Sinai suffered a 12-7 loss to Manhasset (N.Y.).

MID-ATLANTIC

Caelen Driggs, Salesianum (Del.)

The senior attacker scored six goals as Salesianum repeated as Delaware state champions with a 13-11 win over Cape Henlopen (Del.) on June 5. The score was the same as their regular-season meeting the month before. Cape Henlopen was leading by a goal at halftime before Driggs scored the first three goals to start the second half and the Sallies never looked back. It was 13-8 before Cape Henlopen whittled the deficit down late. The Sallies won their ninth state title in the past 11 championships. Driggs will play at Air Force next year.

MIDWEST

Luke McNamara, Rockhurst Jesuit (Kan.)

The Hawklets sophomore concluded his record-breaking season in fitting fashion with four goals in a 10-8 Kansas state championship game victory over Shawnee Mission East. McNamara finished the year with a single-season program record 72 goals (in just 15 games) to lead Rockhurst Jesuit to its second straight state title. It’s their ninth title, and first time going back-to-back since 2011. Moreover, McNamara tallied a hat trick in every Hawklets game, including four goals against one of the Midwest's top teams, MICDS (Mo.), and five of his team's 10 goals in the state semifinals against Pembroke Hill (Kan.).

WEST

Ben Wimmer, Jesuit Portland (Ore.)

The senior attackman broke his left foot a few weeks before the start of the season but came back to make a big impact at the end of the season, helping lead the Crusaders to their first state title. Wimmer had four goals and three assists June 4 as Jesuit beat Lakeridge (Ore.) 17-9 in the OHSLA championship. The Albany signee returned in early May but was feeling only about 80 percent of full strength.
