The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

The South Region has concluded play, so this week, we honor the top players from the other four regions.

NORTHEAST

Kaleigh Harden, New Canaan (Conn.)

New Canaan waited 27 years between FCIAC trophy lifts, then Kaleigh Harden was a big reason why the Rams had to wait only about 11 months for their next title. The North Carolina-bound senior had her imprint all over a 10-8 win over Darien to make it back-to-back FCIAC championships.

Harden had two goals, six draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls as the Rams avenged a loss to Darien earlier in the season.

“Kaleigh’s leadership, competitive drive and all out hustle sets her apart,” New Canaan coach Kristin Woods said. “She is a dynamic midfielder and makes an impact on both ends of the field.”

MID-ATLANTIC

Kate Galica, Conestoga (Pa.)

The junior midfielder had 13 goals and nine draw controls in back-to-back wins to pace the Pioneers to the district championship. The Virginia commit scored five goals, added two assists and came up with three draw controls in Conestoga’s 14-3 win over Springfield-Delco (Pa.) for the District 1 AAA team title. Galica had four of her goals in the first half as Conestoga jumped out to an 8-0 lead. Galica had eight goals, six draw controls and a caused turnover in a 12-4 win over defending state champion Radnor (Pa.) in the district semifinals.

MIDWEST

Lauren Pallotta, Jackson (Ohio)

Lauren Pallotta starred in the latest installment of the Jackson-Hudson rivalry, which just so happened to be a regional championship contest. Pallotta, a junior who lost her freshman campaign to the pandemic and her sophomore season to a serious knee injury, accounted for more than half of the Polar Bears' goals in a 9-7 victory over the Explorers. That included four first-half goals to take an 8-3 lead into the intermission. Her fifth goal, as the Canton Repository's Cliff Hickman explained, was a dagger as it came with 4:14 remaining and the Polar Bears' lead down to one.

WEST

Eva Thorn, Olympus (Utah)

The junior helped lead Olympus to the UHSAA Class 5A state title, recording three goals and one assist in the final against previously-ranked Park City (Utah) in the final. She also had two goals and two assists in a 12-8 win over Brighton (Utah) in the semifinals. Thorn finished the season with 50 goals and 21 assists.
