SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse Magazine named its Division I women’s lacrosse All-Americans on Tuesday, highlighting the top performers of the 2022 season.
North Carolina, the No. 1 team in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division I Women’s Top 20 and the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, earned three first-team nods — attacker Jamie Ortega, midfielder Ally Mastroianni and defender Emma Trenchard. Taylor Moreno (second team), Caitlyn Wurzburger (third team), Emily Nalls (third team), Andie Aldave (honorable mention), Scottie Rose Growney (honorable mention) and Brooklyn Walker-Welch (honorable mention) also earned recognition on the Tar Heels.
Overall, North Carolina leads with nine players honored.
Maryland also earned three first-team nods. Each player earned positional player of the year distinctions in the Big Ten, too — attacker Aurora Cordingley, defender Abby Bosco and goalie Emily Sterling.
