SPARKS, Md. — Head coach Jenny Levy has announced the 27 players that will travel to Auburndale, Fla., for the 2022 USA Lacrosse Spring Premiere. The event will be highlighted by a public exhibition between the women’s national teams from England and the United States on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park.

This will be the final evaluation for Levy and her staff before making roster selections for the World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship, which USA Lacrosse will host from June 29 – July 9, 2022 at Towson (Md.) University.

Highlighting the U.S. team roster for Spring Premiere is Taylor Cummings, an all-world selection who helping the U.S. win the 2017 world championship. Cummings led the leaderboard in the Athletes Unlimited pro league this summer and is the sport’s only three-time winner of the Tewaaraton Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top men’s and women’s collegiate lacrosse player.

Cummings will be joined by six other gold medalists from the 2017 U.S. team — Becca Block, Kristen Carr, Megan Douty, Marie McCool, Alice Mercer and Kayla Treanor — for the matchup against England.

Among the players looking to make their first world championship roster are 2018 Tewaaraton winner Sam Apuzzo, veteran U.S. training team member Liz Hogan, 2021 Tewaaraton winner Charlotte North and NCAA all-time leading scorer Kylie Ohlmiller.

The U.S. is aiming for its fourth straight world title after winning in 2009, 2013 and 2017. The upcoming championship was originally scheduled for 2021, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A record 30 nations are expected to compete in 2022.

England was the bronze medalist at the most recent world championship in 2017 and this is the first time the two countries have squared off since January 2019, when the U.S. won 14-8 at the Spring Premiere held at Stanford University in California.

Lake Myrtle Sports Park is the official home of the Pan-American Lacrosse Association (PALA) and has hosted numerous lacrosse events in recent years, including the PALA Sixes Cup in September.

The U.S. National Team trains and plays using best-in-class products from Nike (apparel and footwear), Game On Mouthguards, Gilman Gear (goals), Pearl Lacrosse (balls) and DJO (sports bracing) and best-in-class equipment from Gait, Maverik, STX and Cascade Lacrosse.

In addition to these partners, Hudl, MedStar Health, National Center for Safety Initiatives and Stryker are official sponsors of the U.S. national team program. Team training is also aided by products from Athletic Republic.
