The season is fast approaching, and the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its annual preseason All-American teams on Wednesday.

Michael Sowers (Duke), Jeff Teat (Cornell) and Chris Gray (North Carolina) kick off the first team on attack, a trio that is certainly hard to argue with. While the attack position is quite deep, emphasized by the talent present on both the second and third teams (not to forget about the honorable mentions, too), Sowers and Teat were likely Tewaaraton finalists in 2020 had the season not been cut short due to COVID-19. And Gray, for what it's worth, could have made a case for that honor, too.

Brendan Curry (Syracuse), Connor Kirst (Rutgers) and Dox Aitken (Virginia) comprise the midfield. Aitken, who recently announced his intention to return to Virginia for a final season after his dreams of playing football at Villanova were dashed by the pandemic, is an instant boon to a Virginia team already stocked with talent.

Chris Fake (Yale), Gibson Smith (Georgetown) and JT Giles-Harris (Duke) are all lockdown defenders, with Giles-Harris earning US Lacrosse Magazine Division I Men's Preseason Defender of the Year honors.

Drake Porter, recognized by US Lacrosse Magazine as the Division I Men's Preseason Goalie of the Year, earns a first-team All-American nod here.

USILA also agreed with US Lacrosse Magazine on each of its choices at faceoff (TD Ierlan), defensive midfield (Ryan Terefenko) and long-stick midfield (Jared Conners).
