ATLANTA — After knocking off top-ranked Brigham Young on Monday evening in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech has jumped up to No. 2 in the latest New Balance MCLA Division I Weekly Coaches Poll.

Bolstered by the majority (13) of the first-place votes, the Hokies (11-1) jumped from the fifth chair to the second. BYU (13-1) held on to the top spot despite the loss, with the Cougars garnering nine first-place votes.

Concordia-Irvine (11-1) dipped to No. 3 with a pair of top votes but are just six points behind Virginia Tech.

Liberty (10-2), which lost to BYU on Friday night, drops a spot back to fourth, while Florida (13-1) drops down to fifth to make way for the Hokies.

Georgia (5-7) parachutes out of the poll this week to make way for No. 25 Cal Poly (5-7).
