Who would win? Vote now
On Thursday, coaches from both sides joined US Lacrosse Magazine for a video conference to talk about the matchup.
Notre Dame’s Chris Halfpenny and Syracuse’s Gary Gait talked about each of their teams’ successes during the abbreviated season and also encouraged fans to vote over the weekend.
“I think that we were just a really fun team to follow,” Halfpenny said. “We have a great personality. ND nation will hopefully be behind us on this one. If we have to do it virtually this year, bring it on.”
Gait leaned on an old adage to pitch support for Syracuse.
“I think we just want lacrosse fans, if they enjoy watching us and enjoy the way we play, to vote for us,” Gait said. “Our kids work hard. We make sure the game is fun. It’s played with spirit. It’s played with passion.
“Defense wins championships and we ended at No. 1, so give us the vote.”
