Will Haus, a defensive midfielder for the Charlotte Hounds, has been named to the travel roster for the U.S. Men’s National Team for the upcoming Federation of International Lacrosse Men’s World Championship in Netanya, Israel.
Haus replaces Steve DeNapoli on the U.S. team’s 23-man roster. DeNapoli tore his ACL during a Major League Lacrosse game on June 9.
Haus was a first team All-American selection at Duke in 2015 and helped the Blue Devils win NCAA championships in 2013 and 2014 when he was named an honorable mention All-American.
The No. 3 overall selection in the 2015 MLL draft, Haus is in his fourth year with the Hounds and has a career-high eight points (5g, 3a) already this season from his defensive midfield position to go along with 24 groundballs.
Haus’ brother, John, will also be making the trip to Israel as a midfielder on the U.S. team.
The U.S. opens play at the world championship against the Iroquois Nationals on Thursday, July 12. The game will be aired in the United States on ESPN2 beginning at 1:30 p.m. (Eastern).
