The Eagles are flying high and there seem to be no signs of slowing them down.

In their toughest match of the season against their highest ranked opponent on their schedule, then-No. 5 North Carolina was expected to give them a run for their money. But the result was quite the opposite, despite the first half appearing to be an even battle with Boston College only having a one-goal lead.

The Eagles pulled away for an 11-6 second half and a six-goal victory thanks to an impressive nine points (four goals, five assists) from junior Sam Apuzzo, six of which came after halftime. She was just as dominant on the draw with nine controlled.

NO. 2 BOSTON COLLEGE AT NO. 9 VIRGINIA

Being just one of two remaining undefeated teams in Division I, the 12-0 Eagles will next be challenged Saturday by No. 9 Virginia, their second-highest ranked opponent.

The Cavaliers have just two losses on the season, first to the Tar Heels by four and then to Loyola by one four days later. Since the back-to-back losses, Virginia has gone on a three-game winning streak, downing two ACC rivals Notre Dame 17-10 and Duke 12-8, plus Canisius 18-8.

Before March, and before its blemishes on the schedule, Virginia believed it had that “it factor” to succeed. Will it shine through against Boston College?

The Cavaliers are led by sophomore Sammy Mueller’s team-high 37 points, senior Kasey Behr’s 29 goals and junior Maggie Jackson’s 14 assists, the latter who also has 51 draw controls through 10 games.

Virginia is tied with reigning national champion Maryland for second in Division I for shots per game, but Boston College ranks first in scoring offense. Expect a high-scoring affair in this Top 10 matchup.

  Northwestern has a tough slate with two games in one weekend on the road, first against Big Ten foe Johns Hopkins on Friday at 3 p.m. and then against No. 10 Penn on Sunday. Penn will be their sixth Top 20 team this year, meaning a win could vault the Wildcats into the Top 10. The Quakers, which sit second in the nation in assists per game and fifth in saves per game, just have one loss so far this year to Maryland one week ago and will be looking to gain a significant win to get back on track.

• No. 16 Stanford at No. 14 USC
  Sunday, 5 p.m., Pac-12 Networks
  
  Stanford also has a tough conference slate with two road games in one weekend, first facing Arizona State on Friday at 8 p.m. and then USC on Sunday. With the new Pac-12 scheduling format where each conference team will face each other twice, once at home and then on the road, the Cardinal will get a rematch with both teams just one week after hosting them. On March 23, Stanford dominated the Sun Devils 17-7 and slipped past the Trojans 12-11 in double overtime on March 25.
