Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Saturday represented another ho-hum, upset filled early day of action in men’s lacrosse, as three of the top 11 teams in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Top 20 suffered defeats (Saturday Wrap).
The carnage started at the top, as No. 1 and defending national champion Yale stumbled at home, 11-10, to Villanova thanks to Connor Kirst’s overtime goal.
Friday’s action nearly started the upset theme, as a short-handed Lehigh team tested Virginia before the Cavaliers rallied for an 11-8 win.
2. Sunday in women’s lacrosse, defending champion James Madison, Navy and Northwestern each survived upset bids, repeating what No. 1 Boston College did to highlight Saturday’s action.
Noteworthy from Saturday’ results, Princeton’s 16-7 victory over Temple that represented another accomplishment for the Tigers’ Hall of Fame coach:

No. 3 North Carolina fought off a challenge from in-state rival High Point to mark the Friday night slate.
3. Towson faceoff midfielder Alex Woodall realized last summer was gut-check time, literally, and the senior’s trimmed-down figure has made a quite a difference thus far this season.
4. Professional lacrosse will return to Gillette Stadium this spring, as the Premier Lacrosse League Friday announced the home of the NFL’s New England Patriots will host the league’s inaugural weekend of games.
5. The National Lacrosse League has announced the nicknames for its two new franchises that will begin play next season:
