Darien (Conn.) Still No. 1, McDonogh (Md.) No. 2 in Nike/USAL HS Girls' Top 25
There was one change near the very top, but otherwise the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25 looks much the same as last week.
McDonogh (Md.) moves up to No. 2 thanks to a hard-fought win over previously unbeaten St. Paul’s (Md.).
Only one new team entered the rankings. Cicero-North Syracuse (N.Y.) knocked off Victor (N.Y.) to make its season debut in the Top 25.
The only other move was a subtle one, with Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) and Archbishop Spalding (Md.) trading spots in the middle of the Top 25 after Spalding lost, though to another solid squad. There’s only one ranked team with more than two losses, and it’s Georgetown Visitation (D.C.), which is still the only team to solve McDonogh this year.
An inter-region showdown could cause further movement at the top of the rankings after Darien and St. Paul’s meet in a highly anticipated contest. There are several other key matchups that will give teams a chance to rise.
