Kate Levy Named National Girls' Player of the Year

McDonogh (Ind.) midfielder Kate Levy has been named the USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Player of the Year for the 2024 season.

Last week, USA Lacrosse announced regional players of the year for the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West. USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and writers select the regional and national players of the year with input from coaches in their respective regions of coverage.

High school honors will continue in the coming weeks with the official release of the USA Lacrosse All-American and All-Academic teams as well as the Jackie Pitts and Bob Scott award winners.

Levy, who will join her mother — North Carolina head coach Jenny Levy — in Chapel Hill next season, was a leader and catalyst for McDonogh, which reached the IAAM championship game this spring.

“There are a lot of two-way middies, but Kate led our team in caused turnovers in addition to goals and draw controls,” McDonogh coach Megan Nicotra said. “Her defensive ability definitely stood out for me this year. Obviously, she was dominant on the offensive end, but where she does not get the recognition she probably deserves is on the defensive end.”

Levy did it all, with 48 goals, 17 assists, 128 draw controls and 22 caused turnovers making her a force everywhere on the field.
