USA Lacrosse High School Girls' Players of the Week
The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.
NORTHEAST
Kylee Colbert, North Shore (N.Y.)
North Shore (N.Y.) played its most complete game of the young season, eventually pulling away from Sacred Heart (N.Y.) in a 15-9 non-league win Saturday. Kylee Colbert made an early statement and also closed things out to make sure the Vikings remain undefeated on the young season. The Boston College-bound senior scored seven of her nine goals in a seesaw first half and then her draw control dominance helped the Vikings score four consecutive goals over the span of the first 15 minutes of the second half to seize control of the game.
“Kylee’s dominance on the draw Saturday, and throughout the season, has given so many opportunities for her and her teammates to be successful,” North Shore coach Jackie Coyne said. “Her field presence, lacrosse IQ and selflessness truly help the Vikings get going in games. Simply, she is a force on both ends of the field.”

MID-ATLANTIC
Kate Levy, McDonogh (Md.)
The junior midfielder transferred from Chapel Hill, N.C. — the home that the North Carolina commit will return to in two years — and got her first taste of one of the best rivalries in the country in what is considered the top conference in the country. Levy scored a goal and dished out a pair of assists, and did some of her best work winning five draw controls, to help the Eagles win 13 of 19 draws in 10-9 win over St. Paul’s (Md.) in a battle for the top of the MIAA A Conference. It was McDonogh’s first win over St. Pauls’ since 2019. Levy has been a stat stuffer in her first season at McDonogh with a balanced line of 11 goals and 12 assists to go with a valuable 34 draw controls and 10 ground balls.

SOUTH
Annie Small, Anderson (Texas)
Anderson is off to an undefeated start and is averaging over 17 goals a game. A big reason for the Trojans’ success this year is senior midfielder Annie Small. Last week, she contributed five goals and two assists in a win over Vandegrift (Texas). For the season, she has scored 42 goals and added 22 assists. She has hat tricks in all but one game this year. She is committed to Dartmouth.
Also notable: Kate Prentice, Steinbrenner (Fla.); Bo Rosato, Bishop England (S.C.); Sara Williams, All Saints’ Academy (Fla.)

MIDWEST
Makena Harrington, Olentangy Liberty (Ohio)
Harrington has helped put the Patriots on the map, including breaking Molly Bursinger’s program single-season record of 72 goals as Harrington tallied 82 (and 107 points) en route to Ohio Midfielder of the Year honors last season. The Florida commit is off to a similarly stellar start in 2023, including five straight hat tricks, with four goals apiece in her last two games against Medina (Ohio) and Upper Arlington (Ohio). Harrington also had seven draws against the Golden Bears and eight against the Bees.
Also notable: Mia Darr, University School of Milwaukee (Wisc.); Darcy Doyle, University School of Milwaukee (Wisc.); Isabelle Pohmer, Olentangy Liberty (Ohio); Elizabeth Schumacher, Upper Arlington (Ohio)

WEST
Briley Volpp, Cathedral Catholic (Calif.)
The junior midfielder and draw specialist helped Cathedral Catholic to a notable 10-7 win over then-No. 6 Coronado (Colo.), recording three goals and four draw controls. She also had two goals and three draw controls in a loss to Oak Ridge (Calif.) last week, but her strong play in the midfield has helped the Dons (9-4) remain competitive amid a challenging schedule. Volpp is committed to the University of Colorado.
