Lawrenceville Cements Status as No. 1 in High School Boys' National Top 25
The USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25 saw a top-three matchup cement Lawrenceville (N.J.) as the top team in the country, at least for now.
After Malvern (Pa.) came off a key victory over St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), Lawrenceville jumped on them and held them off for a win. Malvern’s win over St. Anthony’s had the larger impact on the rankings because it also forced down Culver (Ind.), which had lost earlier this spring to St. Anthony’s, too.
Landon (Md.) made one of the most significant moves, bumping up seven spots thanks to a win over Bullis (Md.). The Bears are heating up while others ahead of them fell. Chaminade (N.Y.) dropped St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) several spots in a top-20 matchup that crossed regions.
Four new teams from the Northeast Region were added to the rankings, as Connecticut and New York schedules picked up. Ridgefield (Conn.) made the highest debut at No. 19 after cruising by Manhasset (N.Y.). East Islip (N.Y.), South Side (N.Y.) and Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) are a combined 16-0 and now all ranked.
There are some monster matchups this week. Lawrenceville tests itself with Brunswick (Conn.) and St. Anthony’s. St. Anthony’s also faces Chaminade in a showdown with national and regional implications. Similarly, Staples (Conn.) and Darien (Conn.) face off, with the Blue Wave looking to get back into the rankings after a 1-2 start.
