The nation’s top team opened their season with a 14-6 win over St. Sebastian’s School (Mass.) Saturday at Cosby Field. Jackson Wolfram (Brown) paced the offense with five goals and one assist, Tomas Delgado (Duke) had three goals and one assist, Max Warden (Brown) had two goals and an assist, Leo Hoffman (Penn) and Payton Anderson (Syracuse) and Andrew Greenspan (Notre Dame) won 14 of 20 faceoffs. A trip to Malvern Prep (Pa.) is up next March 30. Previous: 1
2. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), 3-0
The Friars have looked really impressive coming out of the gate, beating then-national No. 2 Culver (Ind.), 14-10, then-No. 9 Chaminade (N.Y.), 12-10, and Gilman School (Md.), 20-12 — all on the road! Against the Greyhounds on Sunday, Jack Ponzio (Navy) had three goals and three assists, Owen Duffy (North Carolina) had three goals and two assists and Jack Speidell (Harvard) had two goals and two assists. The Friars finally play at Cy Donnelly Field March 30 when they take on Archbishop Stepinac (N.Y.). Previous: 2
3. Chaminade (N.Y.), 1-1
The Flyers bounced back from a 12-10 season-opening loss against rival St. Anthony’s by defeating Ward Melville (N.Y.), 10-5, at Gold Star Stadium Saturday. PJ Verdi (Johns Hopkins) was excellent in the cage, making 14 saves, Gavin Creo (Richmond) had two goals and two assists, Brendan Reilly (Amherst), Pat Flaherty (Navy) and Aidan Lough (Navy) had two goals each to pace a balanced attack. The Flyers host Massapequa (N.Y.) March 29. Previous: 3
4. Manhasset (N.Y.), 0-0
The lights go on for the defending New York State Class C champions March 29 at home against South Side (N.Y.) before heading to John Jay (N.Y.) March 31. Manhasset is led by returning All-American Cal Girard (Duke) at the faceoff X, a legacy guy on attack in Liam Connor, an athletic, tough cover midfielder in Jack Petersen (Harvard) and a terrific DM in James Lapina (BU). It’s another week of practice for the Blue Devils before a gauntlet of Fairfield Prep (Conn.), Brunswick School and Manhasset (N.Y.) to kick off the season. Brady Pokorny (Notre Dame) will have the keys to the attack, while Jake Wilson (Loyola), a running back on the school’s football team, should anchor the defense. Previous: 5

A year removed from capturing a first-ever New York State Class A title, Baldwinsville (N.Y.) will open their 2023 season with a showdown against perennial powerhouse Niskayuna (N.Y.). The Bees are led by returning All-American Keegan Lynch (Fairfield), midfielder Carson Dyl (Fairfield), LSM Brayden Penafeather-Stevenson (Richmond) and defender Anthony Nicolucci (Siena). In a rematch of last year’s Long Island Class A title game, the Tigers defeated Port Washington (N.Y.), 15-7, to open the season Saturday. Dylan Baumgarth won 17 of 24 faceoffs, Jack Deliberti had four goals and one assist, Macklin O’Brien (Geneseo) and Tim McLam had two goals apiece and Mike Tittmann made 16 saves. The scrimmages are in the books and now the Wildcats are set to kick off the 2023 season at Harborfields (N.Y.) March 29. A loaded SWR is led by a pair of sibling tandems in junior Liam Kershis (Duke) and twin Alex Kershis (Dartmouth) and Liam Gregorek (Navy) and older brother Alec Gregorek (Navy), as well as Steven Cain (Marist) on attack. 9. Mount Sinai (N.Y.), 1-0
The Mustangs opened the season with an impressive 9-8 victory over Garden City (N.Y.) at Farmingdale State College Friday night. Christian Colantonio (Marist) scored four goals, Lucas LaForge (Michigan) and Jake Spallina (Syracuse) two goals and two assists apiece and Brayden Wilcken (LIU) made 12 saves in the come-from-behind win. Next up is a trip to Miller Place (N.Y.) March 29. Previous: 10
10. Garden City (N.Y.), 0-1
For a second straight year, the Trojans lost a non-league game to Mt. Sinai. Stevie Finnell (Duke) had three goals and one assist, Andrew Ottomonelli had a pair of goals and Jack Archer (Lehigh) and James Paisley both had one goal and one assist for the Trojans, who will look to rebound at Syosset (N.Y.) 1. McDonogh (Md.), 6-0
AJ Marsh had the go-ahead goal after Brendan Millon tied the game in an 8-5 win over Nobles and Greenough (Mass.). Millon and Luke Miller both had two goals apiece for the unbeaten Eagles. Millon also added an assist. It was their closest win since opening the season with a 6-4 victory over Gonzaga (D.C.). Ben Firlie notched a hat trick and assist, while Andrew Kasten, Hunter Metz and Tre Moore all had two goals apiece. Previous: 3
2. St. Mary’s (Md.) 6-0
The Saints cruised to a 21-4 win over Battlefield (Va.) with Gavin Burlace scoring a hat trick and Erik Chick, Will Goers, and Cole Meushaw all had two goals and an assist apiece. St. Mary’s opened with solid wins over Georgetown Prep (D.C.) and Paul VI (Va.). They will host Calvert Hall (Md.) on March 31. Previous: 7
3. Academy of the New Church (Pa.) 4-0
The Lions opened eyes with a 10-9 overtime win over St. John’s College (D.C.) in their first game of the season. They had to rally from a 6-3 halftime deficit and kill off a two-men down penalty to force overtime before the game-winner from Hunter Aquino. ANC has remained on a roll since, including another one-goal win over St. Paul’s (Md.). Shane Bradley, Owen Carr, Terry Farrell and Lucas Flynn all had two goals apiece and Brady Carver made six saves in an 8-1 win over Upper Dublin (Pa.). 4. St. John’s College High (D.C.), 4-2
The Cadets suffered back-to-back losses to ANC (Pa.) and Hill Academy (Ont.) before getting back on track with three straight wins. Last week they held down DeMatha (Md.) 7-4 and they pounded Bishop O’Connell (Md.) 20-4. Paul VI (Va.) and Episcopal Academy (Pa.) are on the docket for this week. Previous: 5
5. Boys’ Latin (Md.), 4-2
Liam White scored twice as the Lakers built a 3-2 lead early over national powerhouse Culver (Ind.) before being overrun, 13-5. Spencer Ford had a goal and assist. Dylan Cadigan made five saves in the loss. Boys’ Latin bounced back to beat Hill (Pa.) 14-2 on Sunday. Previous: 1
6. Malvern Prep (Pa.), 3-1
The Friars held off a rally to hand Calvert Hall (Md.) its third straight loss, 12-11. Michael Ortlieb scored four goals and Chris Rabena made seven saves. Billy Irish and Dylan O’Connor had a pair of goals apiece. Malvern lost for the first time, 11-10, to Lawrenceville (N.J.). After falling behind, 10-6, after the third quarter, they rallied to tighten the final score. Ennis Edo had a hat trick. Malvern faces a big challenge when Brunswick (Conn.) visits on March 30. 7. Haverford (Pa.), 3-1
The Fords already had a big win when Wells Flinn scored his fourth goal for an overtime victory over Georgetown Prep (Md.). After an 11-5 loss to McDonogh, Haverford defeated St. Anne’s-Belfield (Va.), 18-10. They have a week to prepare for Lawrenceville (N.J.) on April 1. Previous: NR
8. Georgetown Prep (Md.), 4-2
The Hoyas recovered from their loss to Haverford to stop Gonzaga (D.C.), 11-9. Ciaran McCleary fired in the go-ahead shot with five minutes left in the fourth quarter to snap an 8-8 tie. It was the lone game of the week for Prep which heads to North Carolina this week for a trio of games. Previous: 2
9. Bullis (Md.) 5-1
Chase Band’s fourth goal proved to be the game-winner with 7:18 left. It gave the Bulldogs an 8-6 lead on their way to handing Archbishop Spalding (Md.) an 8-7 loss. Bullis’s only loss came at the hands of Malvern. They’ll make a Florida swing before returning to host Gonzaga (D.C.) on March 31. Previous: 4
10. Loyola-Blakefield (Md.), 3-3
Owen Dixon had the game-tying goal in regulation and game-winner in the third overtime for an 11-10 win over Western Reserve (Ohio). The Dons snapped a three-game losing streak with the thrilling win that handed Western Reserve its first loss of the season. Loyola opened the year with a key win over Paul VI (Va.). Previous: NR

1. Lake Mary (Fla.), 12-0
The Rams had a dominating week, starting off with a 14-3 win over Oviedo (Fla.) followed by blanking Seminole (Fla.) 16-0. Lake Mary arguably has its toughest test of the year traveling to face Lake Highland Prep (Fla.) this week. Previous: 1
2. St. Andrew’s (Fla.), 10-2
The Scots returned from a 12-day break by defeating Groton School (Mass.) 11-5. St. Andrew’s concluded the week with a 16-2 win over Vero Beach (Fla.). Previous: 2
3. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.), 8-1
The Crusaders had 14 different players score in their 19-0 win over Enloe (N.C.). Cardinal Gibbons capped the week off with a 16-4 win over Leesville Road (N.C.). Junior Brady Dolan had five goals and an assist in the win over Leesville Road. Previous: 3
4. St. Mark’s (Texas), 8-1
Since falling to Westlake (Texas), the Lions have won seven in a row. St. Mark’s returned from spring break to defeat Houston Christian (Texas) 18-1. St. Mark’s followed that with a hard-fought 8-6 win over Kinkaid (Texas). Previous: 7
5. Dallas Jesuit (Texas), 5-4
The Rangers snapped their four-game losing streak by defeating Coppell (Texas) 8-6. Senior Cameron Martin had a hat trick. Junior Cooper Coleman won 13-of-18 faceoffs and picked up 12 ground balls. Previous: 8
6. Blessed Trinity (Ga.), 13-0
The Titans remain unbeaten after a pair of dominating wins last week. Blessed Trinity first picked up a 20-2 victory over Chattahoochee (Ga.), followed by a 16-5 win over Pope (Ga.). Previous: 9
7. Bolles (Fla.), 13-1
After losing a tight 15-14 contest to Dublin Jerome (Ohio), the Bulldogs bounced back with a pair of wins last week. Bolles defeated Bartram Trail (Fla.) 21-7, followed by an 11-9 win over Lucy Beckham (S.C.). Junior Gavin Boree exploded for nine goals and five assists in the win over Bartram Trail. Daylin John continues to lead Bolles’s offense with 48 goals. Previous: NR
8. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 9-2
The Raiders had a 3-0 week, highlighted by a 12-11 victory over Massapequa (N.Y.). St. Thomas Aquinas also picked up a 9-5 win over Columbus (Fla.) and a 6-4 victory over Kellenerg (N.Y.) last week. Chris Testa had a dominating week in the face-off circle. Previous: NR
9. Middle Creek (N.C.), 10-0
The Mustangs have maintained a perfect record through the halfway point of the regular season. Middle Creek picked up an 11-6 win over Apex Friendship (N.C.) followed by a 13-10 victory over Hoggard (N.C.). James Cardillo and Collin Patrick each passed 100 career goals. 10. Benjamin (Fla.), 10-2
The Buccaneers have lost two games by a combined margin of three goals so far this year. They have also picked up quality wins over St. Edward’s (Fla.), Lake Highland Prep (Fla.), and most recently, a 14-11 win over Jesuit (Fla.). Benjamin has a tough test this week going up against Bullis (Md.). Senior Brady Quinn leads the team in points with 23 goals and 28 assists. Previous: NR

MIDWEST TOP 10
1. Culver Academy (Ind.), 8-1
Per usual, the Eagles have started out the season playing all sorts of top-line talent, scoring impressive wins over Boys Latin (Md.), Kiski Prep (Pa.) and Gonzaga (D.C.), while falling to St. Anthony’s (N.Y.). In CMA’s latest win, a 12-11 overtime triumph over Gonzaga Sunday, Gabriel Sorichetti netted the game-winner with a laser of a shot from the far-right side. Previous: 1
2. Brother Rice (Mich.) 1-0
The Warriors got off to a dominant start with a 16-2 victory over St. Ignatius (Ohio) in Cleveland. Scoring four or five goals in each of the first three quarters, the Warriors were highly impressive against the Wildcats, who have been toward the top of the Buckeye State in recent years. 3. Forest Hills Central (Mich.), 3-0
The Rangers most recently recorded a pair of impressive wins over Hoosier State powers Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern. In the latter, FHC scored the game-winner with just eight seconds remaining. Amherst commit Sam Sneider had five goals and eight caused turnovers over the Rangers’ first three games while Michigan commit Crandall Quinn has tallied 43 saves. Previous: 3
4. Loyola Academy (Ill.), 2-0
Coming off back-to-back state championships, the Ramblers’ opener wasn’t easy but they managed to edge Glenbrook South (Ill.), 5-3, before picking up a more comfortable 17-2 win over Maine South (Ill.). One thing that’s clear early? Loyola’s trademark defense, led by Nate Schwitzenberg (Notre Dame) and so vital to last year’s title, appears to be in fine form. Previous: 4
5. Upper Arlington (Ohio), 1-0
The Golden Bears opened their season with a 17-4 victory over Thomas Worthington (Ohio). In the battle of Columbus-area schools, Upper Arlington took an early lead (4-1 after a quarter and 9-4 at the half) before exploding for a 7-0 third quarter to establish full control. Previous: 5
6. MICDS (Mo.), 3-1
Whereas in 2022, the Rams doubled up on each of their first eight opponents, this year they have been challenged from the get-go. Their first four games included a pair of one-goal wins, over Briarcrest Christian (Tenn.) and Durham Academy (N.C.), and a 7-1 loss to Memphis University School (Tenn.). The triumph over Durham Academy included a beautiful spin-and-score from Willy Carpenter to win it in overtime. Previous: 6
7. Dublin Jerome (Ohio), 2-0
The Celtics didn’t just gain Vitamin D on their trip to the Sunshine State. Dublin Jerome also soaked up confidence and experience in garnering a pair of tight victories over Ponte Vedra (Fla.) (13-11) and Bolles (Fla.) (15-14). Keeper Cory Lorentzen impressed throughout the weekend, as did Marek Tzagournis. Previous: 8
8. St. Xavier (Ohio) 4-0
The Bombers are off to a dominant start, outscoring their first four opponents 68-15. Johnnie Guttman (seven goals against Springboro) and Brendan Deeley (three hat tricks in four games) have excelled for St. Xavier, but it isn’t just the scoring, as Magnus Violet has been stellar at the X, including 14-of-16 against Springboro and 14-of-17 against Cathedral. 9. Hartland (Mich.), 2-0
A state champion a year ago, the Eagles are off to a strong start, out-scoring Mitten State counterparts Midland Dow and Grand Rapids Catholic Central by a combined margin of 36-10. How good is Hartland without Bo Lockwood (now at Michigan)? An April 5 test against Brother Rice, in a rematch of last year’s state championship game, will provide answers. Previous: 9
10. Carmel (Ind.), 5-1
The Greyhounds picked up two of the more impressive wins of the early season, topping Kentucky state champion St. Xavier, 6-5, and one of Michigan’s best, Detroit Catholic Central, 8-4. An April 14 game against Trinity Louisville (Ky.) is now looking like a must-watch. Previous: NR

WEST TOP 10
1. St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.), 7-0
The Wildcats topped WCAL rival Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.), 8-5, on March 23 to remain unbeaten. Max Ripple (three goals, one assist) and Jack Porter (two goals, two assists) led the attack with four points each, while Johan Van Oast enjoyed a big day on faceoffs, winning 76 percent of his attempts. Goalie Chase Morgan preserved the win with eight saves. St. Ignatius was set to play Jesuit Portland on March 27. Previous: 1
2. Legend (Colo.), 4-0
The Titans continued their roll after a productive trip to California resulted in a pair of wins over Top 10 foes. In their return to in-state competition, they routed Prairie View, 21-0, as Magnus Langtry paced the attack with four goals and three assists. Alexander Martinez won all 14 of the faceoffs he took and goalie Benjamin Carey needed just three saves to preserve the shutout. Previous: 4
3. Valor Christian (Colo.), 5-0
Baden Brown registered three goals and an assist as the Eagles continued their impressive start to the season with a 7-3 win over former No. 2 Arapahoe (Colo.). Rush LaSelle added two goals, while Harry Luong had seven ground balls and won 10 of 13 faceoffs. Buck Cunningham made seven saves to earn the win in goal. Previous: 6
4. Mater Dei (Calif.), 8-1
The Monarchs have won three straight since their two-goal loss to Legend, including a notable 13-7 win over Corona del Mar (Calif.) on March 25. They were scheduled to play Kent Denver (Colo.) on March 27. Thomas White scored three goals in an 8-2 win over Mountain Range (Colo.) earlier last week. Mater Dei is 6-1 against out-of-state opponents, facing teams from Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and Texas. Previous: 7
5. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 4-0
The Bruins made a statement with a pair of dominant wins over two of Utah’s best, beating Park City, 14-2, and Corner Canyon, 14-5. They led the Chargers 7-3 at halftime. A big game against Valor Christian is on tap for March 29. Previous: NR
6. Mountain Vista (Colo.), 4-0
The Golden Eagles returned from their trip to California and collected a 17-7 win over Denver East (Colo.) on March 21 behind Ethan Pearson’s five goals, but that was the closest game they’ve played this season – matching a 10-goal win over Santa Fe Christian (Calif.) the previous week. 7. St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.), 8-1
The Tartans rebounded from their two-goal loss to Legend with lopsided wins over Servite (Calif.) and Poway (Calif.) last week. St. Margaret’s has outscored opponents 140-41 this season. In-state games against Westlake (Calif.) and Santa Fe Christian are on schedule for this week. Previous: 8
8. Jesuit Portland (Ore.), 4-0
The Crusaders got through their first two of three games in California unscathed but eked out a 7-6 win at Sacred Heart Prep. It doesn’t get easier. They were set to face St. Ignatius Prep on March 27, then have games against Texas powers Westlake and Woodlands later in the week. Previous: 7
9. Loyola Los Angeles (Calif.), 8-2
The Cubs have won six straight since a four-goal loss to St. Ignatius Prep, and they’ve been dominant in that stretch with the closest game being a 13-7 decision against Westlake (Calif.) on March 22. The schedule gets tough again with upcoming in-state games against La Costa Canyon, St. Margaret’s and Foothill-Santa Ana before a pair of contests against Texas teams. Previous: NR
10. Bishops School (Calif.), 7-1
The Knights suffered an 11-6 loss to Colorado Academy (Colo.) but recovered in a big way with a 10-8 win over former No. 3 Torrey Pines (Calif.). Their next big test is March 31 against Sacred Heart Prep, which has lost three straight during a rough stretch of its season. Previous: NR
