Two major outcomes created a few adjustments in the latest USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25.
Salesianum (Del.) had a possession in overtime to win it before Lawrenceville (N.J.) pulled out the victory. The Sals climb the Top 25 by giving the Big Red one of their best games of the year on the heels of an unbeaten start. McDonogh (Md.) also soared back into the top 10 by being the first MIAA team to upend Boys’ Latin (Md.) in what’s become quite a rivalry.
New Canaan (Conn.) and Bullis (Md.) move into the Top 25. Both have enjoyed strong starts to the season. Bullis heads into a key matchup with Georgetown Prep (Md.) with the chance to reinforce its spot. New Canaan just knocked Darien (Conn.) out of the ranking but has to uphold its spot this week when it takes on a talented Staples (Conn.) team.
Otherwise, it was a rather quiet week. Most Top 25 teams did not lose a game last week, and if they did, it was to someone that followed along with present rankings. South Region teams and much of California are already wrapping up their seasons, while others gear up for playoffs.
This stretch — plus the postseason — is when there’s a bit more on the line, and the rankings will reflect the importance of outcomes.
ABOUT OUR RANKINGS
High school rankings are compiled by USA Lacrosse Magazine writers with input from coaches around the country. Teams with post-graduate players are not eligible, nor are those from outside the United States. These rankings are not affiliated with the official USA Lacrosse High School Awards program overseen by area chairs.
