St. Anthony's (N.Y.) New No. 1 in Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys' Top 25
Another week, another new No. 1 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25.
St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) had been trending toward the top spot all year, and a loss by former No. 1 McDonogh (Md.) to Loyola-Blakefield (Md.) made the Friars the clear pick. Culver Academy (Ind.), whose only loss came at the hands of St. Anthony’s, is second with unbeaten Manhasset (N.Y.) climbing to No. 3.
Loyola-Blakefield’s win and Fairfield Prep (Conn.) upending Chaminade (N.Y.) combined to shake up the top 10. Further down, unbeaten Staples (Conn.) made a significant leap, and two losses by Darien (Conn.) dropped the Blue Wave down. Newcomers Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) and New Canaan (Conn.) debut in the Top 25 on the strength of perfect starts.
It doesn’t feel like anyone is safe, and it will be the teams that can continue to put together big wins and avoid upset losses that rise. End-of-year tournament play carries heightened weight.
