USA Lacrosse High School Boys' Players of the Week
The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.
NORTHEAST
Owen Duffy, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.)
There’s been some special lacrosse players to come out of St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) — Tom Schreiber, Mike Chanenchuk, Brennan O’Neill and Andrew McAdorey just to name a few.
Owen Duffy is proving he deserves to be in that rarified air of Friars greatness. The No. 4 ranked player in the Class of 2023 by Inside Lacrosse is off to a red-hot start, helping lead St. Anthony’s to a 3-0 start. The North Carolina-bound senior had five goals and an assist in a season-opening win over Culver (Ind.), then scored five more goals in a 12-10 victory at rival Chaminade (N.Y.). And he followed that up with three goals and two assists in a 20-12 triumph at Gilman School (Md.).
“Owen is a true leader in every sense of the word. He works and prepares hard every day to get better and is as competitive a player as we’ve ever had here,” St. Anthony’s head coach Keith Wieczorek said. “You don’t replace him when he’s gone. You just appreciate what he gave and accomplished when he played for you.”
Also notable: Anthony Annunziata, Huntington (N.Y.); Jack Deliberti, Northport (N.Y.); Ryan Parker, East Islip (N.Y.); Brayden Wilcken, Mt. Sinai (N.Y.); Jackson Wolfram, Brunswick School (Conn.)
— Dylan Butler
MID-ATLANTIC
Owen Dixon, Loyola-Blakefield (Md.)
The senior scored on a quick flick just before the regulation buzzer to tie the score at 10 against Western Reserve and send it to overtime. In the third overtime, his low whistler won the game, 11-10, for the Dons and handed Western its first loss of the season. The lefty attack will suit up for North Carolina next year.
Also notable: Chase Band, Bullis (Md.); Gavin Burlace, St. Mary’s (Md.); Trent Layton, Academy of the New Church (Pa.); Brendan Millon, McDonogh (Md.); Nate Wess, Catonsville (Md.)

SOUTH
Gavin Boree, Bolles (Fla.)
Gavin Boree has already surpassed his point output from a year ago, thanks in large part to a nine-goal, five-assist effort over Bartram Trail (Fla.). He also turned out a one-goal, three-assist performance in a win against Lucy Beckham (S.C.). The junior attacker is committed to High Point.
Also notable: Connor Hofbauer, St. Andrew’s (Fla.); Carter Kryszak, Middle Creek (N.C.)
— Justin Boggs
MIDWEST
Magnus Violet, St. Xavier (Ohio)
On a loaded Bombers team that features a Michigan commit and All-American on defense (Max Bonner), a top recruit on the attack in Khalif Hocker and a star keeper in Trent Yelton, Violet has carved out his own key role at the X. In St. Xavier's 10-1 win over Springboro (Ohio), Violet won 14 of 16 faceoffs and tacked on three assists. Against Cathedral (Ind.), Violet was no less dominant, going 14-of-17 at the X.
Also notable: Willy Carpenter, MICDS (Mo.); Khalif Hocker, St. Xavier (Ohio); Cory Lorentzen, Dublin Jerome (Ohio); Crandall Quinn, Forest Hills Central (Mich.); Sam Sneider, Forest Hills Central (Mich.); Gabriel Sorichetti, Culver Military Academy (Ind.)

WEST
Grant Giuliano, Corona del Mar (Calif.)
The senior goalie helped the Sea Kings to a 6-5 win over San Diego power Torrey Pines, which was ranked No. 3 in the West at the time. Guiliano finished the game with nine saves and held the Falcons to just one goal in the second half as CdM rallied from a 4-2 halftime deficit.
