The USA Lacrosse Players of the Week recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. Games are considered from the previous Monday through Sunday.

NORTHEAST BOYS

Carson Kraus, Garden City (N.Y.)

Garden City (N.Y.) has raced out of the gate to begin the 2024 season and Carson Kraus has been in the driver’s seat. The Hamilton-bound senior midfielder netted 11 goals and added an assist in the Trojans’ 2-0 start.

In Garden City’s opener against Farmingdale (N.Y.) — a meeting of a pair of state finalists a year ago — Kraus had five goals and one assist in a 12-5 victory. Two days later, in a game played at Adelphi University, Kraus went off for six goals in a 13-5 victory over Mt. Sinai (N.Y.).

Also notable: Patrick Arnold, Manhasset (N.Y.); Ryan Filippi, Port Jefferson (N.Y.); Harley Finkelstein, Calhoun (N.Y.); Ryan Hannaford, Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.); Casey Quinson, Brunswick (Conn.)

— Dylan Butler

MID-ATLANTIC BOYS

Ben McCarthy, Haverford (Pa.)

McCarthy came up big for the Fords in a pair of huge wins. The Duke commit won the faceoff, sprinted down and skipped it in for the game-winner with 7 seconds left for a 9-8 win over Taft (Conn.). He had two goals, six ground balls and won more than 50 percent of his faceoffs to push Haverford to 4-0. Earlier in the week, McCarthy won 60 percent of his faceoffs and had seven ground balls and two goals in a 14-7 win over previously unbeaten McDonogh (Md.).

Also notable: Matt Nelson, La Salle (Pa.); Brady O’Kane, Haverford (Pa.); Cooper Revis, Bullis (Md.); Aiden Seibel, McDonogh (Md.); Ennis Udo, Malvern (Pa.)

— Justin Feil

SOUTH BOYS

Chris Jaskiewicz, Lake Highland Prep (Fla.)

Lake Highland Prep is coming off an impressive week with wins over St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) and Ponte Vedra (Fla.), and Chris Jaskiewicz was a big reason why. The Providence commitment had a solid four-goal effort against St. Thomas Aquinas. The senior midfielder then followed that with a five-goal, two-assist effort against Ponte Vedra.

Also notable: Caden Harshbarger, Lake Mary Prep (Fla.); Blake O'Neal, Roswell (Ga.); Bennett Zinn, Westlake (Fla.)

— Justin Boggs

MIDWEST BOYS

Michael Tauscher, St. Viator (Ill.)

What a week for Tauscher. Winning 70 percent of his faceoffs against New Trier (Ill.) was plenty impressive and that wasn’t even the High Point commit’s top performance of the week. He later won 20 of 21 in St. Viator’s big comeback win over St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.), as the Lions scored nine of the last 10 goals after trailing 5-2 in the early going.

Also notable: Jack Caine, Upper Arlington (Ohio); Gentry Curtis, Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.); Sean Grogan, Culver Academy (Ind.); Trevor Martay, New Trier (Ill.); Chase Morgan, Upper Arlington (Ohio); Reid Moshier, Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.); Luke Zajdel, Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.)

— Jonah Rosenblum

WEST BOYS

Tripp King, Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.)

It was a frenzy for freshman Tripp King who netted four goals and picked up five ground balls in Loyola’s 6-3 upset over Colorado powerhouse Regis Jesuit. Vital in the attack and midfield, King also plays for the West Coast Warriors club lacrosse team.

Also notable: Matthew Mannarino, Torrey Pines (Calif.); Laird Miller, Brophy (Ariz.); Ollie Nolting, Cherry Creek (Colo.)
