William Scroggs

William Scroggs was one of the game's most successful coaches. After playing for three national championship teams at Johns Hopkins (1967, 1968, 1969), Scroggs began his coaching career as an assistant with the Blue Jays. He served from 1972-78 and helped lead Johns Hopkins to two more NCAA titles.

In 1979, he became the head coach at North Carolina and led the Tar Heels to six ACC titles, three NCAA championships and 11 appearances in the NCAA Tournament during a 12-year career. He compiled a record of 120-37 (.764) as the head coach at North Carolina, with NCAA titles in 1981, 1982 and 1986. At the time of his induction, Scroggs was serving as senior associate director of athletics at UNC.

In 2014, Scroggs began an eight-year term as the NCAA's secretary-rules editor for men's lacrosse. He previously served as chair of the NCAA's Men’s Lacrosse Rules Committee and the Division I Men’s Lacrosse Committee.
